Simplicity

The first thing we want is to teach your child. The last thing we want is to make a parent’s life more complicated. To this end, HMS will include all of the following for one, simple, all-inclusive monthly tuition:

  • With a full-time teacher for every 7 students, HMS has a teacher-student ratio well above other schools and day cares.
  • Our School Year runs from mid-August through the end of June. While not year-round, it’s a summer break much shorter than that of public schools.
  • To fit the schedules of families with ties to Austin ISD, we generally follow AISD’s elementary school calendar for major holidays (less so for in-service days).
  • Children may start at HMS after they turn two, so that they might have three full years (or more) in our multi-age classroom before entering Kindergarten.
  • HMS is open from 8am to 6pm. There are no scheduled drop-off or pick-up times.
  • Tuition for students entering HMS in the 2024-2025 school year will be $1,495/month, and our mornings-only option is $895/month. So that you can accurately budget for the three or four years ahead, this amount is locked in and will not increase in future years.
  • Many activities that are “extras” at other schools are included at HMS. Whatever happens during the school day, whether art, dance, music, dual-language instruction or whatever, will be available to all students at no extra cost.
  • At HMS, you will not be nickel-and-dimed. There are no application fees, supply fees, registration fees, or, well, any fees at all. You will not be asked to pay tuition during our short summer break.

Life is short, keep it simple.

“We wish the old things because we cannot understand the new, and we are always seeking after that gorgeousness which belongs to things already on the decline, without recognizing in the humble simplicity of new ideas the germ which shall develop in the future.”
