As we approach Thanksgiving, our students are sharing their gratitude in many ways. Last week, we started a book of gratitude, in which the students can write (or a teacher may write for them) something for which they are thankful. This morning, we are grateful that the mom of one of our students came in […]

Pumpkin Carving
Many thanks to one of our moms who came to school this morning to help our students work with pumpkins out on the playground. Everyone had the chance to draw or stamp on a pumpkin, poke holes in it (“carving”) and/or scoop out the gooey meat and seeds. Fun times!
Special Friday Visitors
Five of our caterpillars made cocoons last night, and that wasn’t even the most exciting thing that happened today! We also had not one, not two, but THREE special visitors! First, we had a special Halloween visit from one of our student’s Grandma’s, who came all the way from New York City to help us […]
Mothers’ Day Concert
To celebrate Mothers’ Day, our young students put on a special music class for all of our Parents. Mrs Laura did an excellent job preparing the little musicians–in addition to showing off multiple rhythms and songs, they took a bow at the end!
Signs of Spring
Our little scholars have returned from Spring Break and went right back to work. Our teachers couldn’t help but notice that the children themselves must be feeling the Spring Fever, as their choices of works seem to reflect the warm breezes that we are feeling outside….
Holiday sing-along happiness
We had a wonderful time this morning at our family sing-along. Special thanks to Mrs Laura for the wonderful work preparing our young scholars for the songs. Happy Holidays to all! Student art on our door for the holidays! Spinning dreidels while everyone else sings “Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel…” We’re sad to say goodbye to one […]
A Hanukah celebration
Earlier this week, one of our parents visited school to talk to our little students learned about Hanukah. We learned all about the story of the lights, and we lit all eight candles on two (yes, two!) menorahs.
Nuestros árboles de navidad
The past few weeks we have been learning our colors en espanol. So far, we know well rojo, naranja, amarillo y verde. Makes for some nice Christmas tree collages, eh?
At today’s meeting…
This morning our little students received a special visit from our friends at Airport Dental Care. We learned all about brushing teeth. We are supposed to brush after breakfast, and after dinnertime. The brush moves in circles around the whole tooth, before you move on to the next tooth. And don’t forget any teeth!
Decorating our Calaveras
Getting ready for our Day of the Dead discussion/celebration, this morning we decorated our calaveras…. full-body style.
Pumpkin Carving
Special thanks to a parent volunteer for coming on Friday to help our young students carve some special, spooky HMS pumpkins. We learned a lot about seeds, being careful and “pumpkin goo.”
