December is such an exciting month for so many reasons. After the change in weather after Thanksgiving, the children get so excited about the Holiday Season. So of course seasonal materials finds their way into our classroom.
This year, we had a special lesson on the sense of smell. In particular, gingerbread cookies. First, we learned about the cookies and houses by reading several new books. Then, we got out a tray of spices. We smelled cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Lastly, with the help of one of our parents and her oven, we were able to bake gingerbread cookies!
Of course, December can’t pass without many other celebrations. We were able to light our Menorah, make our Holiday Village, decorate our playground and after a two-year hiatus we rekindled our tradition of singing for our parents!
