At the end of his very, very busy day off Ferris Bueller reminds us that “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
For many of us in Austin, October is a busy month, what with two weekends of ACLFest and the Grand Prix. Those huge, adult events are not important to young children. But throw in our fall camping trip and the long-anticipated Halloween, and even kids can start to feel the excitement.
The best way to insulate your child from the buzz is simple: bring them to school. Routines are very important to the young child, and keeping routines can be a challenge amidst all the hustle and bustle when life gets busy. That’s were HMS steps in. From morning drop-off to afternoon pick-up, we are an oasis of steady calm for our young students.
At school, children’s routines change very little from day to day. We focus inside the classroom. We sit down for snacks. We eat a hearty lunch. We rest at naptime. We relax and let the wiggles out on playground.
And in between those larger chunks of the day, there are various other structured moments (yoga, music class, storytime, circle time) that our little students have become accustomed to.
So while adult life gets busy, your child’s life doesn’t have to. Just bring them to school. A little oasis in the crazy that modern life can send us.
Coming soon… even more Holidays!
