A couple of weeks ago, we received 10 caterpillars for our classroom. In a little over a week, they had each made their chrysalis, only this year the butterflies emerged much more quickly than they did last year.
Several of them emerged from their cocoon during the school day while the curious students were able to watch. As of yesterday, nine of the ten have been released to flit about our playground and beyond, into the big world.
However, one of the ten did not have a complete set of wings, and cannot be released outside. So it seems that we have a new classroom pet! Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Foldy!
