Wading in the River

Spring Camping Trip

This year, we had not one, but two wonderful camping trips!

Last weekend, HMS invaded Palmetto State Park and found lots of excitement. We found lots of animals: spiders, butterflies, birds, frogs and caterpillars, all of many different colors and sizes. The river was great for fishing and wading, and hiking trails provided a test for our endurance. And a camping trip wouldn’t be complete without lots of good food–and s’mores.

The children learned a lot not just about nature, but also about themselves. Of course, being in nature has its risks. We found some things out there that we should be scared of–from spiny caterpillars and poison ivy to campfires and river currents. With a little caution we can overcome our fears and learn about this beautiful world we live in. With these lessons learned, everyone had a lot of fun, and we are already looking forward to next year!
