I was born in Austin and raised just south of HMS in the Hyde Park neighborhood, starting my education at Children’s Discovery Center where I first learned the importance of play in learning! My interests in art and interdisciplinary learning led me to Eckerd College, a liberal arts school on the Gulf Coast of Florida where I could further pursue my work in printmaking, art history, gender and religious studies. In my work I emphasize a relation with not to, opening the present to a growing conversation without the conclusion of answers. My interest in alternative methods of learning led me back to Austin where I could explore random and imaginative paths while Nannying for families I had worked with previously. I have over 10 years of experience working with children in domestic spaces. For the past two years I have led an after school art class at Long-View Micro School where the students and I have loved embracing our mistakes and exploring our nonlinear creative process. This summer, after a year at HMS, I began my studies toward my Montessori Teaching Certificate.
