I am a Texas Native and moved from San Antonio to Austin in 2017.
I am deeply moved by humanity and how I can be of service in the world. As I’ve grown, I’ve realized that placement is in education. My interest in education and teaching began in high school and has grown along side me into my later years. I began as a teacher’s assistant my first year of high school working in my former elementary school. Later, I became a math tutor working in the lower income areas of San Antonio and was radically impacted and deeply moved by the experiences I had there. For the next few years, I focused my endeavors on travelling, working in a Holistic Clinic, and opening my small business where I hand-make artisan chocolate. In 2016 I lived for a year on Maui and picked up chocolate making towards the end of my time there.
I was introduced to the Montessori Method in 2018 and have found my home! The practice of following the child is a component I find deep value in. I feel it is a gift to work with young children and in the Montessori style. One of my favorite things I see is their focus, autonomy, and the application of what they have learned in the environment and how it applies to practical life. It truly brings me joy! I feel passionate about supporting their eagerness to learn, self-direction, and the stage of cognitive development they are in.
I feel my skills lay in my ability to guide and observe the children and tune into their needs. By nature, I am caring and empathetic and feel I easily connect to their needs.
In my down time, more than likely you will find me: pouring tea (Gong Fu Cha), chocolate making, dancing in a goofy fashion, singing and playing guitar, going for strolls in nature, spending time with my loved ones.
